As an eating disorder recovery coach, I help clients build a life worth living while supporting the day-to-day aspects of recovery.
What does an eating disorder coach do?
Coaches are “in the trenches” with clients, supporting the behavior changes necessary for recovery.
Clients and I work together to identify eating disorder patterns, set achievable goals, practice new coping skills, and shape the lives they want to live. I’m available by text at times and during situations when treatment providers are traditionally unavailable. I can also eat with clients and accompany them to places like food and clothing stores.
As a recovered coach, I model recovered living and speak openly about my own experiences as is relevant.
Who would benefit from having a coach?
Coaching is generally most suitable for clients in the “action” stage of recovery.
During the action stage, clients are interested in making changes, getting feedback, and making adjustments. They still have ups and downs and fluctuations in motivation, and also, they have some willingness to move forward.
Most clients will need to have a therapist and/or dietitian. Coaches collaborate with treatment team members and support treatment team goals, but do not diagnose or treat.

about me
Hi, I'm Emily.
Until I finally sought help in my early twenties, I struggled with eating disorders and dieting for as long as I remember.
I couldn’t even imagine a life where I didn’t worry about food. After years of hard work and many ups and downs, I finally found freedom. I’d be honored to help you find it too.
My Approach
As a Carolyn Costin Institute certified eating disorder recovery coach, I take a warm, compassionate, curious, and sometimes challenging approach, tailored to your needs and stage in the recovery process. I am passionate about helping people along their unique healing journeys, and I’ve learned to use my training and personal experiences to support you. I believe everyone is capable of full recovery from their eating disorders and deserving of support.
I believe…
Stopping behaviors is only the beginning.
Your eating disorder self is part of you, not an outside force.
Your eating disorder self is trying to help you.
I don’t believe…
Eating disorders are visually obvious.
Lifestyle or health can be assumed based on shape or size.
Eating disorders present the same way in everyone.
